The guide draws on official venue sites, city pages and the supplied October 2026 research. We have not done every date on this list. Check the linked venue calendar before you go.

Morning Dates

Plan outdoor dates for the morning. San Antonio’s average high is 82°F in October and tops 95°F in July and August.

1. Bike the Mission Reach to the Spanish Missions

Free · Sunrise to 11 a.m. · Starts where the River Walk ends, south of downtown

Four Spanish missions from the 1700s sit along the San Antonio River south of downtown. Together they form San Antonio Missions National Historical Park, part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Entry is free. The Mission Reach trail links them, and the missions sit about 2.5 miles apart.

Ride south to Mission San José, home of the park’s visitor center. Rangers lead free tours there at 10 and 11 a.m. Then keep going to the Espada Aqueduct. Spanish settlers built it from 1740 to 1745, and the park calls it the oldest Spanish aqueduct in the United States.

No bikes? A San Antonio BCycle day pass costs $25 each and covers unlimited rides of up to an hour each. The mission churches open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The grounds stay open from sunrise to sunset.

2. Start Slow at the Japanese Tea Garden
