13 hotels near Galveston cruise port: parking deals compared
Free parking, a package rate or a daily fee. The same two words, cruise parking, can mean three very different bills.
By Diego Salinas, Staff Writer
The Short Answer
The best-value hotels near the Galveston cruise port are Avenue O Bed and Breakfast and Gaido's Seaside Inn. Both park your car free during the cruise when you stay one night.
- Book Avenue O Bed and Breakfast directly with the inn.
- Gaido's Seaside Inn posts no limit on parking days. You pay for your own ride to the ship.
- The Tremont House and Harbor House at Pier 21 sit 0.3 miles by road from Carnival's Cruise Terminal 25.
- Holiday Inn Resort Galveston-On The Beach and Moody Gardens Hotel bundle both into one package.
- Beachfront Palms and Hyatt Select Galveston Beachfront charge $10 a day for up to 14 days.
Two Galveston hotels both promise “cruise parking.” At Gaido’s Seaside Inn, that means your car sits free for the whole trip. At The Tremont House, it means valet only, $100 plus tax and a 7-day cap, plus a $36 valet charge for your first night.
Same two words. Very different bill.
Sometimes the surprise waits at the front desk. One cruiser wrote on Tripadvisor in January 2026 that a Galveston hotel quoted free parking, then charged $275 at check-in for a two-week cruise.
So we read the fine print at 13 hotels near the Galveston cruise port. For each one, you’ll see what parking costs, how you get to the ship, how far you are from your terminal and what the hotel makes you do first. We checked every hotel against its own website and a second source in October 2026.

What "cruise parking" can mean at a Galveston hotel
No rule says what “cruise parking” has to include. Each hotel writes its own version, and the gap between the best and worst deals on this list is more than $100 for the same week.
We sorted every hotel into one of four groups.
- Free for the sailing. Book a room night and the car stays free while you’re at sea.
- Package price. Parking comes bundled with a special rate or promo code, sometimes with a shuttle. You usually have to book that exact rate, and often only through the hotel.
- Sold separately. You pay a daily or flat fee on top of the room.
- No cruise parking. You can park while you sleep there, but the car has to leave at checkout.
The ride to the ship splits the same way. Some hotels drive you for free. Some charge per person. Some hand you a taxi card. And three downtown hotels are close enough that you can roll your bags to the terminal.
Which cruise terminal is your ship using?
The Port of Galveston has four cruise terminals along Harborside Drive, each named for its pier. Your cruise documents name the terminal, and that decides which hotels near the Port of Galveston are closest to you.
| Terminal | Address | Who sails from it, 2026 to 2027 |
|---|---|---|
| Cruise Terminal 10 | 1402 Harborside Dr. | Royal Caribbean |
| Cruise Terminal 16 | 1602 Harborside Dr. | MSC Cruises and Norwegian Cruise Line |
| Cruise Terminal 25 | 2502 Harborside Dr. | Carnival |
| Cruise Terminal 28 | 2702 Harborside Dr. | Disney Cruise Line (Disney Magic, Nov. 20, 2026 to April 25, 2027) |
Terminal 16 is the new one. It opened on Nov. 7, 2025. Terminal 25 used to be called Terminal 1, and Terminal 28 used to be Terminal 2. Plenty of older blog posts still use the old names, so match the street address, not the number. The Port of Galveston keeps the current list.
How we chose them
We checked each hotel’s own parking and package pages on October 6, 2026. Then we matched them against a second source, such as Visit Galveston, a booking-site listing or a dated guest review. When sources disagreed, the entry tells you.
We ranked hotels first on what you pay to park and get to the ship. Clear, posted terms came next, then distance to the terminals. This guide is based on that research, not on overnight stays. No hotel paid to be here.
Galveston hotels with free cruise parking
No. 1: Avenue O Bed and Breakfast
Free parking and a free ride to the ship, if you book direct

The front porch and grounds of Avenue O Bed and Breakfast. Avenue O Bed and Breakfast / Official website Avenue O is a bed and breakfast about a mile from the harbor, and it has the best cruise deal on this list. Book at least one night directly with the inn and you can park free for up to seven days. Cruises longer than that cost $20 for each night over seven.
The ride is free, too. After breakfast on sailing day, the inn drives you to the terminal. When the ship comes back, they pick you up and take you back to your car. No other hotel here does both for free.
Before you go: call the inn to get your parking approved. Its policies say space is limited, and you may lose your spot without that okay. You’ll also sign a liability waiver.Key facts- Free, round trip
- 1 night, booked direct
- Free with a direct booking, up to 7 days. One car per room, three cars per stay at most.
- Free, round trip.
- 1.2 miles to Terminal 25, 1.9 miles to Terminal 10.
Pros
- Free parking, a free round trip and breakfast before you board.
Cons
- Bookings through Expedia, Airbnb or Hotels.com don't qualify. No large trucks or SUVs, RVs or oversized vehicles.
No. 2: Gaido's Seaside Inn
Free parking for the whole cruise, with no posted day limit

The swimming pool at Gaido's Seaside Inn. Gaido's Seaside Inn / Official website Stay the night before you sail and Gaido’s covers your parking “for the whole length of your trip.” The hotel lists no cap on days. One guest wrote on Tripadvisor in February 2025 about leaving a truck here free for a 10-day cruise.
That makes Gaido’s the pick for long sailings, like Carnival’s 8-night Bahamas trips. Tell the front desk about your cruise when you check in. The cruise lot is uncovered but enclosed, with 24-hour cameras and one way in and out.
Before you go: plan your ride. Gaido’s doesn’t run a shuttle. The lobby keeps cards for local taxis, and the hotel suggests Uber or Lyft.Key facts- None
- 1 night before you sail
- Free for the length of the cruise, uncovered.
- None. Taxi or rideshare.
- 2.1 miles to Terminal 28, 2.3 miles to Terminal 25, 2.8 miles to Terminal 10.
Pros

Cons

No. 3: Best Western Plus Seawall Inn and Suites by the Beach
Free parking near Royal Caribbean, but get the rules in writing

Best Western Plus Seawall Inn and Suites near the east end of Seawall Boulevard. Best Western Plus Seawall Inn and Suites by the Beach / Visit Galveston This Best Western sits at the east end of the Seawall, 1.4 miles from Royal Caribbean’s Terminal 10. No other Seawall hotel on our list is closer. Hotels.com lists free extended parking here, and a guest wrote on Tripadvisor in April 2026 that the hotel let them park free while they cruised.
Here’s the hitch. Best Western’s own page doesn’t mention cruise parking at all. A March 2026 cruise.blog guide said guests sign a parking waiver and space is limited.
Before you go: call and ask how many days you can park and whether you have to stay the night before.Key facts- None found

Its Park and Sail package covers valet parking for one car for up to seven days. Marriott’s page lists cruise parking at $100 plus tax and says your first night of valet isn’t included. Regular overnight valet costs $36 plus tax. The same page also shows a $160 “Cruise” rate in its fee list, so ask which price applies to you.

No. 5: Holiday Inn Resort Galveston-On The Beach
Parking and a shuttle for four in one package

A guest room at Holiday Inn Resort Galveston On the Beach. Holiday Inn Resort Galveston-On The Beach / Visit Galveston IHG’s page doesn’t leave room for doubt. If you’re leaving on a cruise, you must book one of the hotel’s cruise packages. The package covers parking for one vehicle while you’re on the ship and a shuttle for up to four people. Visit Galveston calls it the Park, Stay and Go package.
Neither page posts a package price. Regular overnight parking is $15 a day. The lot has 200 outdoor, uncovered spaces, and IHG says it takes buses, trucks, trailers and RVs.

Cruzely reported in June 2026 that cars park at The San Luis, Hilton’s sister property next door.
The shuttle is murkier. Visit Galveston’s listing says the package includes a round-trip ride to the port. Hilton’s own terms just say to check with the hotel about cruise port service. Cruzely put the shuttle at $20 per person in June 2026.

The hotel’s own site doesn’t post cruise parking terms. Expedia lists extended parking at $16.24 a day, which matches a $15 rate plus tax, and the Houston Chronicle also reported $15 a night. Seven days comes to about $114.

Galveston cruise port hotels we checked and left off
Some hotels still show up on other “cruise hotel” lists, but they don’t offer cruise parking now, or their terms didn’t hold up when we checked.
- Grand Galvez Resort (the former Hotel Galvez). Marriott lists valet at $40 a day and says the hotel has no shuttle. It mentions long-term parking but posts no cruise rate. Its old cruise parking deal was suspended during a 2021 garage renovation.
- SpringHill Suites Galveston Island. Marriott says “No cruise parking available.”
- Hampton Inn and Suites Galveston. Hilton says cruise parking is unavailable.
- Residence Inn Galveston Island. Lists $15 daily parking for guests and no cruise offer.
- Comfort Suites Galveston Cruise Port Area, Beachside. Reports conflict. A January 2026 Tripadvisor reviewer said they were quoted free parking, then charged $275 for a two-week cruise at check-in. If you book, get the price in writing.
- Candlewood Suites Galveston. Tells cruisers to ask the front desk about parking fees. No shuttle.
- TownePlace Suites, Inn at the Waterpark and Hotel Lucine. Other sites list cruise parking at these hotels, but we couldn’t confirm the terms with the hotels.
Is a hotel cheaper than parking at the port?
Yes, if you’d stay the night before anyway. The port’s economy lot costs about $179 for a 7-day cruise, while Gaido’s and Avenue O charge nothing to park.
Here’s what parking alone costs for a 7-day cruise.
| Where you park | Parking cost, 7 days |
|---|---|
| Gaido’s, Avenue O or Best Western (with a room night) | $0 |
| Beachfront Palms or Hyatt Select | $70 |
| Courtyard Galveston Island | $80 |
| The Tremont House | $100 plus tax, plus $36 first-night valet |
| Harbor House at Pier 21 | About $114 with tax |
| The George Manor | $150 to $175 |
| Port of Galveston economy lot | About $179 |
| Port of Galveston garage | About $240 |
Port prices come from Cruzely’s October 2026 check of the port’s booking system. Rates change by sailing date, so check the port’s reservation page for yours.
Say you live in Dallas and plan to drive down the day before. You’re paying for a room either way. At Gaido’s, that room comes with free parking, so the $179 you’d spend at the port stays in your pocket.
The math flips if you could drive in on sailing morning. Then the hotel room is the extra cost. Pick the hotel if an early drive down I-45 sounds worse than the price of a room.
Port lots have their own perks, too. Shuttles from the economy lots run every 5 to 7 minutes, and you can drop your bags at the terminal before you park. Our Galveston cruise parking guide compares every port and private lot.
Six questions to ask before you book
Hotel cruise deals change without notice, and booking sites rarely show the terms. A two-minute call to the front desk can save you a surprise at checkout. Ask these.
- Is cruise parking free, a package or a separate fee? Get the dollar amount with tax.
- How many days does it cover? Many hotels cap it at seven. Carnival Jubilee’s 8-night Bahamas trips run past that.
- Do I have to book direct or use a promo code? Avenue O requires a direct booking. The San Luis uses code SPC.
- Is the shuttle round trip, and what time does it leave? Ask how pickups work on the day you get back.
- Can I park a truck, trailer or RV? Beachfront Palms says no. Holiday Inn Resort says its lot takes them.
- Is it self-park or valet? The Tremont and Moody Gardens use valet. That matters if you want to grab something from your car later.
An outing the day before you sail
Arriving early gives you time to enjoy the island. Baywatch’s dolphin cruise leaves from Pier 21, near Harbor House. Plan it for the day before your cruise so a boat delay won’t affect boarding. Our Galveston guide for families compares more stops.
Flying in? You can check a private SUV from Houston’s airports to Galveston. Confirm your hotel address and bag space with the driver. This airport ride is separate from any hotel-to-port shuttle.
