The Short Answer

For the fewest nights at sea, look for a four-night sailing from Galveston. Carnival, Royal Caribbean and seasonal Disney trips offer short options. Confirm the ship, dates and terminal on the cruise line’s booking page.

Five major cruise lines sail round trip from Galveston this season. Here’s every ship, how long each trip runs, which terminal it uses and where it goes. Plus the honest answer on 3-day cruises.

Galveston is the only cruise homeport in Texas, and it keeps getting busier. It’s the fourth-busiest cruise port in the U.S., and it expects about 446 sailings in 2026. That’s more than eight ships a week.

The lineup also changes every few months. Princess canceled its whole 2026-27 season. Liberty of the Seas takes over Royal Caribbean’s short trips on October 31. Disney Magic comes back on November 20. Plenty of cruise guides, and even some port pages, still list ships that no longer sail from here.

So we rebuilt the list from scratch, ship by ship.

The short answer. Five major cruise lines sail round trip from Galveston in the 2026-27 season. They are Carnival, Royal Caribbean, MSC, Norwegian and Disney. Carnival has the most ships, with four. No line runs a 3-night cruise from Galveston. The shortest trip is 4 nights, Thursday to Monday, with one day in Cozumel.

Every cruise line sailing from Galveston in 2026-27

Carnival and Royal Caribbean run the short 4- and 5-night trips. MSC and Norwegian sail week-long trips only. Disney sails 4, 5 and 7 nights, but only from November to April.

Cruise line Galveston ships, 2026-27 Trip lengths Terminal Usual ports of call Season
Carnival Carnival Jubilee, Carnival Breeze, Carnival Dream, Carnival Miracle 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 10 nights 25 or 28 Cozumel, Progreso, Roatan, Celebration Key, Nassau, Key West, Half Moon Cay Year-round. Miracle sails October to May. Dream leaves in May 2027
Royal Caribbean Liberty of the Seas, Symphony of the Seas 4 to 8 nights 10 Cozumel, Costa Maya, Roatan Year-round
MSC Cruises MSC Seascape 7 nights 16 Costa Maya, Roatan, Cozumel Year-round, Sundays
Norwegian Cruise Line Norwegian Viva 7 nights 16 Cozumel, Roatan, Harvest Caye (Belize), Costa Maya October 31, 2026 to April 2027, Saturdays
Disney Cruise Line Disney Magic 4, 5 and 7 nights 28 Progreso, Cozumel, Castaway Cay, Nassau November 20, 2026 to April 2027

Ship assignments change by season. We re-check this table every 60 days. Your boarding pass names your terminal, so trust it over any guide, this one included.

Princess Cruises isn’t on the list. It canceled every Galveston sailing from November 2026 through March 2027. Some websites still show it, including parts of the port’s own site.

Is there a 3-day cruise from Galveston?

No. No cruise line runs a 3-night trip from Galveston in the 2026-27 season. The shortest is 4 nights, which Carnival sells as a “4-day cruise.”

Distance is the reason. Cozumel is the closest regular port, and it sits across the whole Gulf. A Carnival ship that leaves Galveston at 3:30 p.m. Thursday doesn’t reach Cozumel until 9 a.m. Saturday. Florida ports can run 3-night trips because the Bahamas are much closer.

The schedules back this up. Monthly port schedules for October 2026 through May 2027 show no 3-night sailings. One independent tracker counted 721 Galveston departures through November 2028, and none run shorter than 4 nights.

So if you searched for a 3-day cruise from Galveston, the 4-night trip is your closest match. It costs you two weekdays off work, plus Monday morning.

What a 4-day cruise from Galveston looks like

Most 4-night trips leave Thursday afternoon and dock early Monday. You get two days at sea and one day in Cozumel.

Day Where the ship is Carnival Breeze times
Thursday Leaves Galveston 3:30 p.m.
Friday At sea All day
Saturday Cozumel, Mexico 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Sunday At sea All day
Monday Back in Galveston 8 a.m.

Times from Carnival’s 4-day itinerary page. Royal Caribbean’s 4-night Liberty of the Seas trip follows the same pattern.

Which ships sail 4-night cruises from Galveston

Four ships run 4-night trips this season. Three go to Cozumel, and Disney goes to Progreso.

  • Carnival Breeze. Year-round, to Cozumel.
  • Carnival Miracle. October 12, 2026 to early May 2027, to Cozumel.
  • Liberty of the Seas. From October 31, 2026, to Cozumel. It replaces Mariner of the Seas, whose last Galveston trip ends October 30.
  • Disney Magic. November 20, 2026 to April 2027, to Progreso.

Prices for each one are in Which short cruise to pick, below.

5-night, 7-night and longer cruises from Galveston

A 5-night trip adds a second port to the Cozumel run. At 7 nights, MSC, Norwegian and Symphony of the Seas join in, and you can reach Roatan, Belize or a private island.

5-day cruises from Galveston

The same four ships that run 4-night trips also run 5-night trips. Carnival and Royal Caribbean leave on Saturdays or Mondays for these.

Ship Ports of call Season
Carnival Breeze Cozumel, Progreso Year-round
Carnival Miracle Progreso October 2026 to May 2027
Liberty of the Seas Costa Maya, Cozumel From October 31, 2026
Disney Magic Cozumel, Progreso November 2026 to April 2027

On Carnival Breeze, you spend 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in each port and dock back in Galveston at 8 a.m. Liberty of the Seas spends noon to 7 p.m. in Costa Maya and 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Cozumel. Both trips have a sea day at each end.

7-day cruises from Galveston

All five lines run 7-night trips from Galveston. For MSC and Norwegian, it’s the only length.

  • MSC Seascape leaves every Sunday for Costa Maya, Roatan and Cozumel.
  • Norwegian Viva leaves Saturdays from October 31 to April for Cozumel, Roatan, Harvest Caye in Belize and Costa Maya.
  • Symphony of the Seas leaves Sundays for Roatan, Costa Maya and Cozumel.
  • Carnival Dream sails 7 nights to Key West, Celebration Key and Nassau until it moves to New Orleans in May 2027.
  • Disney Magic adds a few 7-night trips that visit Castaway Cay, Disney’s island in the Bahamas.

6-, 8- and 10-day cruises

Carnival Jubilee swaps between two trips all year. Its 6-night trip visits Cozumel and Mahogany Bay in Roatan. Its 8-night trip goes to Nassau, Half Moon Cay and Celebration Key, Carnival’s newer private beach stop in the Bahamas. Carnival Miracle also runs a few 10-night Caribbean and Panama Canal trips this winter.

Here’s what each line runs from Galveston this season, and what changes next.

Coming next. Icon of the Seas, one of the largest cruise ships in the world, arrives in mid-August 2027. It will swap between 6-night and 8-night Western Caribbean trips, and the 8-night trips stop at Perfect Day at CocoCay.

MSC Cruises

MSC Seascape sails 7 nights every Sunday, all year, to Costa Maya, Roatan and Cozumel. It uses Terminal 16, which opened in November 2025. MSC plans to keep Seascape here through 2027-28. MSC doesn’t run 4- or 5-night trips from Galveston this season.

Norwegian Cruise Line

Norwegian Viva at sea

Norwegian Viva is back for its second winter in Galveston. It sails 7 nights on Saturdays from October 31, 2026 to April 2027. Stops are Cozumel, Roatan, Harvest Caye in Belize and Costa Maya. Viva shares Terminal 16 with MSC.

Coming next. Norwegian Escape takes the winter of 2027-28 with 7- to 9-night trips. Then Norwegian Prima runs the line’s first Galveston summer season, April to October 2028.

Disney Cruise Line

Disney Magic sails from Galveston from November 20, 2026 to April 2027. Its 4-night trips go to Progreso. Its 5-night trips visit Cozumel and Progreso. A few 7-night trips sail to Disney’s Castaway Cay in the Bahamas.

Disney costs much more than the other lines for the same number of nights. See the price table below. The Magic returns for fall 2027 with 4- to 7-night trips. Disney uses Terminal 28.

Princess Cruises

Princess doesn’t sail from Galveston in 2026-27. It canceled all its Galveston cruises from November 2026 on. Regal Princess made its last trips here in March 2026. No Princess ship shows up on the Galveston schedule through May 2027.

Other lines, and the new one coming in 2027

Luxury line Regent Seven Seas lists three long Seven Seas Splendor voyages from Galveston in November and December 2026, from 11 to 17 nights.

Margaritaville at Sea becomes the port’s newest line in October 2027. Its ship, Beachcomber, will sail 4- to 7-night trips, mostly on Fridays.

Which short cruise from Galveston should you pick?

For the lowest price, pick a 5-night trip on Liberty of the Seas or Carnival Breeze. In the October 2026 source price snapshot, both cost less than most 4-night trips. For the fewest days off work, take a Thursday-to-Monday 4-night trip.

Pick by what matters most

  • Lowest price. Book a 5-night trip on Liberty of the Seas or Carnival Breeze. You get two ports for less than many 4-night fares.
  • Fewest days off work. Book a 4-night Thursday-to-Monday trip on Carnival Breeze, Carnival Miracle or Liberty of the Seas. You’re back at the dock by about 8 a.m. Monday.
  • First cruise. A 4-night trip is a low-cost test. You’ll find out if you like ship life, and if you get seasick, before you pay for a week.
  • Mayan ruins. Pick a trip with Progreso or Costa Maya. Progreso is the port for Mérida and tours to Yucatán ruins. Liberty’s 5-night trip stops in Costa Maya.
  • Disney fans. Disney Magic’s 4-night trip costs more than three times what Carnival or Royal Caribbean charge. Plan ahead, because the Magic only sails here from November to April.
  • A private island. None of the 4- or 5-night trips stop at one. You’ll need a 7- or 8-night trip on Carnival Jubilee, Carnival Dream or Disney Magic.
  • Cheapest full week. MSC Seascape had the lowest 7-night fare in the source snapshot, $348 a person for an inside cabin on one sailing.

Galveston cruise terminals and how to get there

The Port of Galveston has four cruise terminals, all on Harborside Drive. Find your line below, then confirm it on your boarding pass.

Terminal Address Cruise lines
Terminal 10 1402 Harborside Drive Royal Caribbean
Terminal 16 1602 Harborside Drive MSC Cruises, Norwegian Cruise Line
Terminal 25 (once Terminal 1) 2502 Harborside Drive Carnival
Terminal 28 (once Terminal 2) 2702 Harborside Drive Disney, plus Carnival on busy days

Terminal details from the Port of Galveston’s port map and arrival guide. Many private parking lots still use the old names, Terminal 1 and Terminal 2.

Flying or driving in

William P. Hobby Airport terminal entrance

Galveston has no scheduled commercial airline service, so most cruisers land in Houston. Hobby Airport is about 40 miles from the terminals, a 45- to 60-minute drive. Bush Intercontinental is about 70 miles away, or 75 to 90 minutes. We compare shuttles, Uber and cruise line transfers in our Houston airport to Galveston guide.

Driving from Dallas, Austin or San Antonio takes about 3.5 to 5 hours. Every route ends on I-45 South over the causeway. TxDOT is widening I-45 near Texas City, so leave extra time on weekend mornings.

For a private ride, compare the Galveston SUV transfer and Houston–Galveston private shuttle. Confirm the chosen airport, direction, luggage allowance and pickup time with the operator.

Parking at the port

Our cruise parking guide lists October 2026 seven-night price examples of $179.21 to $277.72 for port lots and $91.41 to $216.15 for private lots. Get a quote for your sailing. Compare the lots, fees and shuttle details in our Galveston cruise parking guide.

Stay the night before

Harbor House Hotel beside the water at Pier 21

A hotel night cuts the risk of a long journey on boarding day. Winter fog can slow ships, and a wreck on I-45 can cost you an hour. Two Galveston inns, Avenue O Bed and Breakfast and Gaido’s Seaside Inn, park your car free while you cruise when you book a night.

If you have a full day on the island, the Baywatch dolphin cruise is an option before your cruise. Keep it on the day before departure so a delay does not cut into check-in.

For a waterfront stay, check Harbor House Hotel on Booking.com. Book any cruise parking package directly with the hotel; a room-only rate may not include it.

Galveston cruise schedule and the busiest days

Saturday is the busiest sailing day at the port. In October 2026, 14 of Galveston’s 36 departures leave on a Saturday. Most 4-night trips leave on Thursdays, and many 5-night trips leave on Mondays. Both are quieter days at the terminals.

CruiseMapper, Port of Galveston schedule · 36 cruise departures, October 2026

On the busiest Saturdays, four ships leave the same afternoon. On October 31, 2026, Liberty of the Seas, Norwegian Viva, Carnival Jubilee and Carnival Dream all sail. Expect lines at the parking lots and traffic on Harborside Drive, and get there early.

The port posts every sailing on its cruise schedule page. Ships usually dock at 7 or 8 a.m. and leave between 3 and 5 p.m. Flying home the day you get off? Book a flight after 1:30 p.m. from Hobby or 2 p.m. from Bush Intercontinental.

Last-minute cruise deals from Galveston

Watch final payment day. After it, a cancellation costs the guest money, so the cruise line knows which cabins are still empty and prices them to sell. For Royal Caribbean and MSC, final payment comes 75 days before a trip of 4 nights or less, and 90 days before a 5- to 14-night trip.

Here’s how to catch a good fare.

  1. Drive instead of fly. A cheap last-minute cabin stops being cheap once you add a last-minute plane ticket. Galveston is a drive-to port for most of Texas.
  2. Price the 5-night trip, too. In the October 2026 source price snapshot, 5-night trips on Liberty of the Seas and Carnival Breeze cost less than most 4-night trips.
  3. Look at January. Three of the five lowest short-cruise fares in the source snapshot were on January 2027 sailings.
  4. Check for resident rates. Royal Caribbean’s Galveston pages for Liberty of the Seas showed a 10% resident-rate offer in October 2026. The page didn’t say which states qualify, so enter your state and see.
  5. Read the final payment rules for your line. Carnival, Disney and Norwegian set their own deadlines. Check your booking terms before you count on a price drop.
  6. Grab the parking code. The Port of Galveston posts a monthly parking promo code on its Facebook page.
