16 cabins in Fredericksburg, TX, by distance to Main Street
Walk home from dinner, stay near a tasting room or head out into the hills. Your cabin address shapes the whole weekend.
By Marisol Vega, Food Editor
The Short Answer
Deciding where to stay in Fredericksburg? Start with how far you want to walk. If you want to walk to dinner, book Maria's Suite at Austin Street Retreat. It's an 1867 log cabin 0.4 miles from the Marktplatz. If you want a log cabin with land around it, Barons CreekSide is 4 minutes from Main Street. If you want a private hot tub next to a winery, The Martinsburg in Stonewall puts one on the porch of all six cabins.

Fredericksburg has more than 1,500 vacation rentals, guesthouses, cabins and B&Bs, by Visit Fredericksburg’s count. Almost none of the listings answer the question that shapes your weekend. How far is the walk to dinner?
“Close to Main Street” can mean a block. It can also mean 2 miles out on a highway. This guide compares 16 cabins in Fredericksburg, TX. The routes in the source research start at the Vereins Kirche on the Marktplatz, the center of Main Street. The cabins fall into four zones.
- Walk to Main Street. Under half a mile, about 10 minutes on foot.
- A short drive. 1.6 to 8 miles, 3 to 11 minutes.
- Out among the vineyards. 6 to 18 miles east on US 290 and in Stonewall.
- Out in the hills. 14 to 18 miles, 20 minutes or more. Check the map for nearby homes.
Each cabin also gets a plain answer on hot tubs. An indoor jetted bathtub is not a hot tub on the porch, and many listings blur the two.

How We Measured
Distances in the source research use the Vereins Kirche at 100 W. Main St. as a common starting point. Treat drive times as rough plans. Traffic and your exact unit can change them. Two cabins keep their address private until booking; their distances come from the listing.
This guide draws on the visitor bureau, property websites and booking listings. It is desk research, not a record of stays at these cabins. Confirm the tub type and pet rules for your unit.

Fredericksburg Cabins With Hot Tubs, Sorted by Tub Type
Listings use hot tub, Jacuzzi and soaking tub as if they mean the same thing. They don’t. A Jacuzzi is often an indoor jetted bathtub. A soaking tub may have no jets and no heater. Here is what each cabin on this list says it has.
| Cabin | From Main Street | What the property lists |
|---|---|---|
| Onera Fredericksburg | 1.6 mi | Private hot tub in units like the Quonset and Spiral. Heated soaking tub in others. |
| Barons CreekSide | 1.8 mi | Outdoor hot tub at Küssnacht, the Hilltop Chalet and the Mesquite Farmhouse. Indoor two-person Jacuzzi in the other Swiss cabins. |
| HoneyTree | 5.1 to 8.0 mi | Outdoor soaking tub in many units. No jets mentioned. |
| Settlers Crossing | 6.5 mi | Hot tub and private pool at the Baag Farm House only |
| Mendelbaum Winery Guest Cabins | 10.3 mi | One shared indoor hot tub that seats 8 |
| The Outpost | 14.5 mi | Private outdoor hot tub that seats 6 |
| The Martinsburg | 17.4 mi | Private outdoor hot tub at all 6 cabins |
Austin Street Retreat, Cotton Gin Village and Palo Alto Creek Farm have indoor jetted or whirlpool tubs only. The KOA Resort has three shared hot tubs at its pools.
Before you book, ask the host three things. Is the tub heated? Does it have jets? Do you fill it, or is it kept full and hot?
Airbnb in Fredericksburg, TX, vs. Vrbo vs. Booking Direct
Looking for a Fredericksburg Airbnb? Check Vrbo too. Most local rentals show up on both sites. AirDNA counted 2,518 rentals in the area in August 2026. About 66% were on both sites. About 26% were Airbnb only, and about 8% were Vrbo only. Nearly half had one bedroom.
That means you can often find the same cabin twice. Compare the full price with taxes and fees on each site. Then check the cabin’s own site or the local service that manages it.
Prices have eased. Across the 12 months ending in September 2026, AirDNA put the average nightly rate at $328, down about 10% from the year before. Occupancy was 42%. The count of active listings fell about 17%.
| Where you book | What you’ll find | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Airbnb | The most listings. About a quarter of local rentals list nowhere else. | Minimum check-in age and pet fees in the house rules |
| Vrbo | Mostly whole homes and cabins, often the same ones as Airbnb | The total with taxes and fees, not the nightly rate |
| A local reservation service | Gästehaus Schmidt, Absolute Charm and Stay Texas, all with offices on Main Street | Cabins that never reach the big sites, like Palo Alto Creek Farm |
| The cabin’s own site | Places like Cotton Gin Village and Barons CreekSide | Cancellation rules. Cotton Gin Village charges the full stay inside 10 days. |
Compare more Fredericksburg cabins on Vrbo. Match the unit name, address and tub type across sites before comparing the full price.
Check the permit and the tax
Inside city limits, the city requires a short-term rental permit for any stay under 30 days, per the City of Fredericksburg. Cabins in the ETJ, the band of land just outside city limits, need no city permit. Since January 1, 2024, city rules cap a rental at 12 guests, with one parking space per bedroom.
If a cabin is inside city limits, ask the host for its city permit number. Hosts need one to rent legally.
