5 best grass-fed beef delivery companies in Texas
A good beef box fits the way you cook. Here are five Texas options, with the full delivery costs and the details to check before you buy.
By Marisol Vega, Food Editor
A freezer full of beef sounds great until you find yourself wondering what to do with the fifth roast. The best grass-fed beef delivery in Texas is the one that fits your meals and your freezer.
These five suppliers sell grass-finished beef, but their orders work in different ways. A mixed sampler gives you cuts to try. A ground-beef plan saves you from reordering. A half beef takes more space and planning.
Start with the delivered price, then check what is in the box. A cheaper pound of ground beef is not the same buy as a pound of steak.

How We Chose Them
We checked each seller’s beef and delivery pages on September 24, 2026. All five describe their beef as 100% grass-fed and grass-finished.
- The order you can buy We compared named boxes with posted weights and prices. Ground-only boxes are priced separately from mixed cuts.
- The full delivery cost Our totals include the published Texas shipping and packing fees. A route quote is still needed for the small Sedley’s order.
- Fit for your kitchen We looked at cut choices, repeat orders and ways to buy in person. The rank reflects editorial judgment about those tradeoffs.
This is a desk-researched shortlist, not a taste test. Farm practices are the sellers’ own claims. Prices may change, and stock or delivery dates need a final check before you pay.
The five Texas beef suppliers
No. 1: Sedley's Grassfed Beef
Talk with the rancher, then choose a box or plan a custom bulk order.

Sirloin steaks from Sedley’s product gallery. The sampler below contains a different mix of cuts. Source: Sedley's Grassfed Beef Sedley’s is our first pick for buyers who want to talk with the rancher before a large order. The Martin family raises cattle in Leesville, in Gonzales County, and runs its own Texas delivery routes. Its ranch history spans six generations.
Start with the $200 small sampler. It has 13–14 pounds of ground beef, tri-tip and two types of skirt steak. That works for burgers and fajitas, with a larger cut for the weekend. Ask how much of each cut comes in the box; the page gives only the total weight.
For a half or whole beef, the ranch helps with your cut sheet. You can discuss steak thickness and which cuts become ground beef. Its FAQ also explains cattle care: sick cattle receive treatment when needed. Read that policy if antibiotic use guides your choice.
Delivery routes cover Austin, San Antonio and Houston, with stops in Corpus Christi and Victoria. Nearby towns and parts of the Hill Country are also served. Confirm your ZIP code and the next run before you order.
Before you order: The sampler page offers free delivery above $450, or for small orders grouped into a qualifying run. Ask whether your $200 order can join one.Key facts- 13–14 lb mixed sampler
- One-time box or bulk order
- Texas routes; confirm your ZIP code
- About $14.29–$15.38/lb
Pros
- Help with custom bulk cuts
- Ranch-run Texas delivery routes
Cons
- A small order may have a delivery fee
- Bulk orders need advance planning
No. 2: 1915 Farm
A repeat order for households that cook ground beef most weeks.

A ground-beef meal pictured on 1915 Farm’s subscription page. The beef ships frozen for you to cook. Source: 1915 Farm If ground beef is on your meal plan most weeks, 1915 Farm makes the order easy to size. Its 15 lb ground-beef subscription costs $189 with Texas shipping included. That is $12.60 per pound.
The farm lists the beef at about 90% lean, dry-aged for at least 10 days. You choose a repeat order every two to eight weeks. You can postpone or cancel, and the farm sends a reminder before the next shipment.
At two pounds a week, one box lasts about seven and a half weeks. An eight-week plan would be close to that pace. Leave room in the freezer before choosing a shorter cycle.
The farm’s FAQ says its meat is not certified organic. Cattle treated with antibiotics for illness leave its meat program. The product page gives a one-to-three-day transit estimate after dispatch; that is not a promise to arrive that soon after you order.
Before you order: This $189 example is a subscription. Review the next ship date and repeat schedule. Some other club boxes include pork and chicken.Key facts- 15 lb ground beef
- Subscription every 2–8 weeks
- $12.60/lb in Texas
- About 90/10
Pros
- Texas shipping included in this plan
- You can postpone or cancel
Cons
- This example renews on a schedule
- Other club boxes may include pork or chicken
No. 3: Burgundy Pasture Beef
Try a local meat counter or order a box with cuts for several kinds of meals.

Serving ideas shown for Burgundy’s variety package. The cuts arrive frozen, not as cooked meals. Source: Burgundy Pasture Beef Burgundy suits DFW buyers who want a meat counter as well as delivery. It has shops in Dallas and Fort Worth, plus its Grandview butcher market. You can try a few cuts before filling the freezer.
The $119.99 Beef Variety Cut Package holds over eight pounds. It includes a 16-ounce top sirloin and a two-pound chuck roast. You also get a pound of stew meat, four pounds of ground beef and four frankfurters.
That mix rewards a cook who uses the slow cooker as well as the grill. Four pounds are ground beef, so do not expect a steak-heavy box. The frankfurters’ weight is not listed, which rules out an exact price per pound.
Under Burgundy’s shipping terms, this box costs $35 to ship in Texas, for a total of $154.99. Orders of $175 or more ship free. Adding at least $55.01 in goods would cross that threshold. At exactly $175, you would pay $20.01 more than the smaller delivered order.
Before you order: Add cuts only if you will use them. Free shipping can improve value, but it is still a larger bill.Key facts- Over 8 lb mixed cuts
- One-time box
- $119.99
- $35 below $175; free at $175+
Pros
- Stores in Dallas, Fort Worth and Grandview
- Box includes both grill and slow-cook cuts
Cons
- Shipping adds $35 to this box
- Four pounds of the box are ground beef
No. 4: Shirttail Creek Farm
Clear grazing details, with farm and Austin market pickup options.

Ground beef pictured by Shirttail Creek Farm. Its bundle contains ten packs of about one pound each. Source: Shirttail Creek Farm Shirttail Creek Farm in Brenham gives buyers a close look at its grazing routine. Its farm FAQ says cattle move through small paddocks, sometimes three times a day. The grazed land then rests for four to six weeks.
The 10 lb ground-beef bundle was on sale for $129.99 when checked. It has ten packs of about one pound each, at roughly 85% lean. That makes it easy to take out one meal’s worth.
For a Texas order below $149, add $19.99 shipping and a $14.99 packing fee. This one-box order totals $164.97, or about $16.50 per pound. Orders over $249 get free ground shipping in Texas, but the packing fee still applies. Each box holds up to 40 pounds.
Pickup is an option at the Brenham farm and listed Austin farmers markets. Shipped orders usually arrive within two days of dispatch. Check the next shipping day if you need beef for a set date.
Before you order: Compare the checkout total with pickup. The $14.99 packing fee is separate from shipping, and the beef price used here is a sale price.Key facts- About 10 lb ground beef
- One-time bundle
- About $16.50/lb at the sale price
- About 85/15
Pros
- Detailed feeding and grazing FAQ
- Farm and Austin market pickup
Cons
- Packing fees apply even with free shipping
- The checked beef price is a sale price
No. 5: Bastrop Cattle Company
A one-time ground-beef box with the Texas shipping cost built in.

Bastrop’s Mini Box of Ground is packed in ten one-pound portions. Source: Bastrop Cattle Company Bastrop Cattle Company keeps the first order simple: buy a box when you need one. Its $180 Mini Box of Ground has ten one-pound packs. Texas shipping is included, bringing the price to $18 per pound.
The company says its cattle are raised on three family ranches in Bastrop and Fayette counties. Its ranch page describes beef born, raised and processed in Central Texas, with no grain finishing.
The main tradeoff is timing. Its delivery page listed a three-to-four-week wait for bundles when checked. This is one to plan ahead for, not a box to count on for next weekend.
Delivery terms change with order size. Combination boxes and quarter-beef orders ship free within Texas. Half and whole orders have free local delivery in the listed Austin, San Antonio and Bastrop areas. Shipping those larger orders elsewhere in Texas costs extra.
Before you order: Confirm the current wait before paying. Ask how the seller handles a delayed or damaged shipment, and keep the delivery date free for unpacking.Key facts- 10 lb ground beef
- One-time box
- $18/lb in Texas
- 3–4 weeks for bundles
Pros
- Texas shipping included in this box
- No recurring order needed
Cons
- The listed wait is several weeks
- Half and whole beef have different delivery terms
Choose the order you will actually use
If you cook two pounds of ground beef a week, a 10-pound box lasts five weeks. A 15-pound box lasts seven and a half. Use that simple count before choosing a repeat order.
For mixed boxes, check the cuts as well as the weight. Burgundy includes a roast and stew meat. Sedley’s sampler includes skirt steaks and tri-tip. Pick the meals you like to cook before chasing a lower price per pound.
Compare ground beef on the full delivered price
This table uses the same three ground-only orders shown above. The dollar figures come from each seller’s listed terms, not from a completed checkout.
| Order | Beef | Texas shipping | Packing | Total | Cost per pound |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1915 Farm, 15 lb subscription | $189 | Included | Included | $189 | $12.60 |
| Shirttail Creek, about 10 lb | $129.99 sale | $19.99 | $14.99 | $164.97 | About $16.50 |
| Bastrop, 10 lb one-time box | $180 | Included | Included | $180 | $18 |
Get the final weight before you reserve bulk beef
Ask for a full quote with the expected packaged weight. Hanging weight is the carcass weight before the butcher makes the final cuts. Bone removal and trimming reduce what you take home. University of Maine Extension explains the difference.
Divide your whole bill by the pounds you will take home. For example, a $3,000 bill for 200 packaged pounds works out to $15 per pound. The same bill for 175 pounds works out to about $17.14. These are sample figures, not a ranch quote.
Before you pay a deposit, get these details in writing:
- The full bill, with processing and delivery costs.
- The expected packaged weight and cut choices.
- The likely delivery date.
- What happens to your deposit if you cancel.
Sedley’s lists a $500 deposit for half and whole orders in its bulk FAQ. The balance comes later, and the deposit is not refunded if you cancel. The stated wait can run from several weeks to several months.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does grass-fed mean grass-finished?
Look for a clear 100% grass-fed and grass-finished claim. Beef described as grass-fed and grain-finished comes from cattle fed grain at the end. All five sellers here say their beef is grass-finished. Read the feeding policy if avoiding grain is your main goal.
Which ground-beef order costs the least in this guide?
Of the three ground-only examples, 1915 Farm’s 15 lb plan has the lowest delivered price at $12.60/lb. It is a subscription. Shirttail Creek’s roughly 10 lb order works out to about $16.50/lb at the checked sale price. Bastrop’s 10 lb box costs $18/lb. These are the examples checked, not a claim about every Texas seller.
Can I buy grass-fed beef without a subscription?
Yes. Sedley’s, Burgundy, Shirttail Creek and Bastrop offer the one-time examples in this guide. The 1915 Farm example is a recurring plan. Check the purchase option before paying, since a seller may offer both types.
How much freezer space does a half beef need?
Ask for packaged weight and a freezer-space estimate before you pay a deposit. Sedley’s suggests 9–12 cubic feet for its half-beef orders and 16–21 cubic feet for a whole. Other ranches and cut plans may need different amounts. Count the space your current food takes up, too.
What if the beef is not frozen solid when it arrives?
USDA says mailed meat should arrive frozen, partly frozen with ice crystals, or refrigerator-cold below 40°F. Check with a food thermometer right away. If it arrives above 40°F, do not eat or taste it. Contact the seller. The USDA source is linked below.
